Scruffy Pups Dog Grooming

My name is Jenny and I own and run my dog grooming salon called "Scruffy Pups" outside Prosperous, Co Kildare. Originally based in Rathfarnham, Dublin I moved my business to "The Mill" Centre in Celbridge in 2007 and then in 2018 to its current location. I groom dogs on an appointment basis and endeavour to offer a proper comprehensive service for a proper price.
If you wish I would be more then happy to meet you and  your dog to discuss the grooming requirements your particular dog needs. This  assessment has benefits on both sides and it is great for your dog to come , say  hello , maybe have a treat and then return for their grooming appointment when  arranged. I want your dog to be happy about the whole experience. This  assessment is not charged for and is on a " no obligation to book basis". I will advise you on the options open to you regarding the grooming of your dog.
Dogs coming in for grooming generally stay the day with me as this allows the dog breaks during the different stages and makes for a more settled working environment.

Choices of appointments available

• Full Groom - "Nose to tail and all the  bits in between" Included as standard are the foundation elements - nails {including dew claws}, pads, ears {hair & cleaned}, anal gland check, hygiene areas attended to {boys & girls}. Noting of anything requiring veterinary attention such as lumps bumps, body abnormalities, weight check etc. Comprehensive full body wash {no skimping on corners or bits the owner does't see here } and drying using  highly specialised products and techniques to promote your dogs comfort and well  being . Following this the dogs body coat gets fully groomed and styled according to individual dogs requirements taking into account breed and owners wishes. Last but by no means least a wee spray of finishing spray & a snazzy collar bow !
• Mini Groom - Available inbetween regular grooming appointments and generally half the price of a full-groom. All the foundation elements are done followed by comprehensive wash & dry . No body styling happens but you still get a fresh bow & finishing spray. Very helpful for high maintence coats or for owners that like a styled shaped on their dog but are not able to manage the coat themselves.
• B&B {Brush & Bath} - Handy for dogs that have tried their own "perfume de Fox" or other emergency situations that can often arise.
• Nail Trim - usually available on a drop by basis while salon is open but best to call ahead.

Remember the longer you want your dogs coat to be the more frequent the grooming appointments need to be .....

How much for a groom ?

Pricing is not quoted by breed as there
is a  huge range within any breed. Pricing is all based on time spent working on
your  dog. Time spent can vary from dog to dog and an individual dog can require
  differing amounts of work at individual appointments.

What affects the price of a groom?

• Size of dog rather then actual breed
• Behaviour of dog
• Times since last professional groom
• Maintence done at home... or not !!
• Neutered pets tend to grow thicker denser coats requiring more work
• Style to be achieved
• Techniques required to achieve desired style

" Don't shave my dog !!"

I do not like clipping dogs very short either but I will not be unfair to your dog. If a coat is badly matted and can not be sorted without causing your dog pain & discomfort then clipping short may be the only humane option I am able to offer you. This would be a last resort and I would offer advice on how we can avoid ever ending up in this situation again by setting up a maintence plan for your and your dog.
